On Convenience [w/ Josh Thorpe]
Convenience Gallery, Toronto, ON 2009
Our on-going, collaborative work begins with descriptions and analyses of the physical properties and the social and ideological suggestions of a site. We spend time onsite observing and discussing details with architects, planners, artists, critics, and others who are involved in or adjacent to the space in question. This body of knowledge forms the basis, and often the content, of our work, which seeks to shift and add complexity to the experience of a given site, drawing attention to the multiple forces at work in the production of space, and relating embodied experience to discursive activity.
Text compiled and edited from interviews with: Will Elsworthy, Gordon Lebredt, Kristen Peterson, Scott Sorli, Flavio Trevisan, and Deborah Wang.
